Sling Pack

My objective for this concept was to reimagine the experience of carrying essential items for one’s day. Using the inspiration of black and white photography, which employs contrasting values of light, I allowed the medium to influence the aesthetic direction of my design. In observing the everyday scenario, I incorporated a modular design to allow the user to equip their bag to their own personal needs. By incorporating unique interaction points into my design, the bag engages the user when needed but is unobtrusive in its size and function. The displayed bag module allows the user to carry a rain poncho for easy deployment if needed.

Final Prototype Video

I sewed the final prototype by hand to be fully functional. Constructed from ripstop fabric, the bag sits comfortably on the body while the poncho is easily deployable from the side.
